Some important trendsetting highlights in the company’s history include the 1987 introduction of its fully automated container spreader, the Stinis Autotwist® and today, several thousand of these units are in operation throughout the globe, while hundreds more are still being produced and sold each year.
A decade later in 1997, the Long-Twin® spreader was introduced to the market and according to the company, the simple and robust design, for which Stinis holds the worldwide patent, has drastically changed the logistics of terminal operations ensuring a smooth operation for the separating Twin-Lift part under quay cranes, yard cranes and straddle carriers. Currently hundreds of the Long-Twin® spreaders are in operation worldwide under the most extreme conditions to the full satisfaction of users.
Another innovative container handling breakthrough was the Stinis Split-Headblock® which can be equipped with either one or two spreaders and able to handle two 40ft. containers simultaneously. This equipment has been operating successfully for the past two years in a number of European terminals and orders for more units are expected within a very short period of time.
