Upon completion of the ZPMC order, a total of sixteen of these giant cranes will operate on ECTW’s 1,725 m quay, allowing four mega container ships to be loaded and unloaded around the clock at the same time.
With its 18 m depth access channel, geographical location and state-of-the-art technology, ECTW – as Germany’s only deepwater port – will be able to handle ULCVs with a load capacity of more than 10,000 teu.
The cranes each weigh around 1,800 tonnes and have a jib length of 69 m for handling 25 box wide container vessels. With the jib extended the cranes project around 125 m into the air – more than the 105 m sidelines of a football pitch.
