Free standing has been prolonged by four days to a maximum of 14 days and now covers dangerous goods/out of gauge units as well as standard 20’ and 40’ boxes. The 15 to 20 days tariff for 20’/40’ units has been halved to €3.50/€7 per day, while the 21 to 30 days rate is down 25% to €10 and €20 respectively, rising to €25 and €50 thereafter. Rates for other units are double the standard charges.
The Marseilles Fos port authority said the changes would help customers reduce the impact of lengthy delays and avoid surcharges if ship calls were shifted by several days. It added that the reductions would make loading schedules more flexible for hinterland exports on services sailing every ten days to destinations such as east and southern Africa.
The initiative complements a ‘Hauliers Rendezvous’ service introduced to optimise transport flows.
