Mark Bellears, general manager DP World Port Botany said, “The project to bring major rail yard improvements to DP World’s Port Botany terminal has been completed, within the short four-week schedule.
“Work commenced at the end of January 2012 involving the terminal, external contractors and Australian Rail Track Corporation as joint partners. It was a very challenging programme of works which has managed to come in on-time. As a result, normal rail services have resumed as projected.”
The increased infrastructure capacity includes the creation of a dual-entry and exit point for rail and a third operational rail siding within the terminal. The additional capacity will offer new rail windows, providing up to 500 additional rail moves per week.
