One of the hauliers told the local press, “The companies impose rates on us for transporting freight and we are working below cost.”
The hauliers say that they will be forced to file for bankruptcy, since they are unable to renew their fleet of vehicles, which are used to move bulk cargo to various points around the country.
“We’re suffering from a deterioration in the tyres, depreciation of the engine, from the need to make oil changes, and from rising fuel,” said one of the hauliers, pointing out that a request to raise rates had been made 15 days prior to the strike being called.
