The specification of a cable reeling drum on this RTG follows on from the supply of five similar machines by Liebherr to the Port of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates.
The 16-wheel crane, which will have the capability to stack one-over-five containers high while spanning seven containers plus a truck lane, will have a safe working load (SWL) of 40.6 tonnes under spreader. The hoist speed will be 28-56m/min, with a trolley speed of 70m/min; crane travel speed will be 70-135m/min, with the crane’s drive being Liebherr DC. The cable reeling drum will carry 170 metres of 10kV HT cable.
“The supply of electric RTG’s was a natural next step in the on-going development of our cranes. In addition to the increased efficiencies and lower running and maintenance costs that electrification brings, there are major environmental benefits, such as lower emissions and reduced noise pollution,” explained Gerry Bunyan, sales and marketing manager for the manufacturer.
