The new crane is equipped with an intelligent power management system and a significantly smaller diesel engine compared to conventional RTGs. These technologies lead to a fuel consumption of only 9 litres per operational hour in typical RTG applications, which, the company claims, is the lowest fuel consumption in the industry without the use of added energy storage systems.
Ensuring that the most economical engine RPM is used at all times during operations, the SmartPower RTG power management system controls speeds and acceleration to reduce the peak power requirement. As a result, energy consumption and exhaust emissions are greatly reduced. The new machine is based on the Kalmar E-One2 all-electric design, which has no hydraulics.
