“The crane is ideally adapted to our terminal requirements. We decided on the Gottwald Portal Harbour Crane because of the number of this crane type already working successfully in many terminals with many different infrastructures. Also, the company’s ability to respond to customer needs was also a key factor,” said Ronaldo Sapateiro, operational manager for Fospar, a new customer for Demag.
Based on the manufacturer’s mobile harbour crane technology from the slew ring up, the crane is adapted to run on rails. The G HSK 4316 B is a medium-sized Generation 5 crane characterised by its compact and functional construction. The 4-rope grab variant with a 40-tonne grab curve in A7 classification or 34-tonne grab curve in A8 classification is ideal for professional, heavy-duty bulk handling, alongside ships up to the Panamax class.
Portal harbour cranes are designed for use on narrow and special-purpose quays and have become a popular choice for use in bulk terminals as a cost-effective alternative to ship unloading gear or bulk gantry cranes.
