Armando Duarte selected as next AAPA chairman

For more than 15 years, Mr Duarte-Peláez has been a shareholder and member of the board of directors of the Santa Marta Port Corporation, Sociedad Portuaria de Santa Marta (SPSM), in Colombia. A physicist and electrical engineer by training, Duarte-Peláez has a long and distinguished business career in the cattle, coal and port industries. In addition to SPSM, his port interests have included the deepwater port of Barranquilla and various Magdalena River ports.

A member of the AAPA’s board of directors and past chair of its Latin American port delegation, Duarte-Peláez will formally assume the office of chairman of the board at AAPA convention which is being held in Mobile, Alabama from October 21-25.
