EU approves acquisition of Gothenburg Ro-Ro terminal

EU approves acquisition of Gothenburg Ro-Ro terminal

In October 2010, DFDS and C.Ro Ports signed a 25-year agreement with the Port of Gothenburg to operate Älvsborg Ro-Ro but because of its nature the deal was referred to the European Competition Authorities (ECA) for investigation. This revealed that as there was sufficient competition on the ro-ro routes between Gothenburg and other countries in northern Europe, the terminal would have to act in a non-discriminatory manner and welcome new customers.

DFDS and C.Ro Ports are expected to assume responsibility for the terminal and around 280 employees at the beginning of May.
