Signing an agreement at the beginning of this month (May), Hans Smits, President and CEO of the Port of Rotterdam Authority said, “Collaboration with Moerdijk fits well in our strategy of linking the industrial complexes of the two ports better and handling space more efficiently.”
His comments were supported by Ferdinand van den Oever, managing director of the Moerdijk Port Authority, who said that the alliance would provide opportunities, especially in connections to the hinterland.
The agreement between the two ports concentrates on sharing knowledge of market developments, the environment and sustainability, safety and shipping traffic management; this will also include employee exchange.
