In a disclosure, ICTSI said that a ferry vessel, Stena Spirit, collided with BCT’s quay crane 5 (QC5) on the morning of May 17, which caused the collapse of QC5, injuring three BCT engineers. They were immediately taken to a nearby hospital.
Two of the engineers have been discharged from hospital, while the third is recuperating from a surgery as a result of a spinal injury.
The accident also damaged adjacent quay crane QC4, portions of the quay and related infrastructure, and empty dry container vans owned by a shipping line. Stena Spirit was essentially undamaged and 120 passengers unharmed.
