The introduction of this latest fuel-saving solution completes the company’s range of power option solutions, which include the Hybrid Power Pack, Diesel Fuel Saver, and two electric power options, the Cable Reel and Busbar.
The new hybrid power pack turns a conventional diesel RTG into a diesel/electric hybrid RTG, with the crane, whenever possible, operated with electrical power drawn from its on-board energy battery store; the power is generated during braking and converted into electricity to recharge the batteries. Depending on usage, this solution can significantly reduce diesel fuel costs.
The Diesel Fuel Saver alternative provides power-on-demand, matching the RPMs of the RTG engine to the work the machine is doing. This ensures that the diesel engine runs at maximum efficiency at all operating points, without high-speed idling, again reducing fuel consumption compared with conventional diesel engine operation.
