The three countries are among the five main users of the Canal, with China in second place, Japan fourth and South Korea fifth. In China the representation from ACP met with directors of China Shipping Container Lines (CSCL) and Captain Wei Jiafu, President of the COSCO Group and other executives of the firm.
Meetings in Japan were held with Tokyo government officials from the Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In addition, meetings were held with executives from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation and in the shipping sector, with representatives of K-Line, MOL, Mitsui OSK Lines and Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK), as well as the Japanese Shipowners’ Association.
Travelling to South Korea, ACP met with executives from Samsung Heavy Industries and the Busan Port Authority; meetings were also held with Hyundai and officials from the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs and the Korean Shipowners’ Association.
