The only element missing is confirmation of the supplier of the terminal operating system (TOS) that will be required to pull all the automated equipment together – speculation is that such an order could go to Navis.
The announcements followed that of the European Investment Bank (EIB), which formally agreed to provide the final part of €900m (US$1.14bn) overall funding to support investment by the Port of Rotterdam Authority in port infrastructure, of which Maasvlakte 2 is considered the most important. The 30-year long-term loan with “attractive conditions” eliminates the need for the port authority to refinance investment over the period.
Last week this publication was the first to report that APMT had placed an order for 26 automated rail mounted gantry (ARMG) cranes and two rail cranes from crane manufacturer Kuenz.
