Maersk calls Seattle via the TP9 service it jointly operates with CMA-CGM. Sixteen vessels, eight from each carrier, are deployed in the service, rotating through this sequence of ports: Seattle, Vancouver (BC), Yokohama (Japan), Shanghai (China), Ningbo (China), Hong Kong (China), Yantian (China), and Tanjung Pelepas (Malaysia).
“This is great news for the Port of Seattle,” said Port CEO Tay Yoshitani. “SSA’s T-18 is big ship ready—they’ve made the investments in six new container cranes capable of handling the largest ships in world.”
Three super post-Panamax quay cranes were delivered to T18 facility last year and three more have just arrived. As some of the largest in the world, the container cranes are 267 feet high (81.4 m) and can extend out to handle 24 containers across the new Triple E Class vessels, which can carry up to 18,000 teu.
