Automated straddle carrier order for Cargotec

With this deal we will provide both the technology and equipment to the second terminal that will be totally operated with our AutoStrad® system,” said Peter McLean, vice president, Australia and New Zealand at Cargotec.

Cooperation between Cargotec and Asciano\’s Container Terminal division, Patrick, spans over a quarter of a century. Automated straddle carrier trial operations were initiated in 2000 and, following their success, the machines commenced large-scale commercial operations in Brisbane in December 2005.

The companies developed the AutoStrad® system in partnership until June this year (2012), when Cargotec acquired the automation technology assets including the trademark and a transfer of 23 employees from Asciano.
