\”Confirmation of the technical feasibility to operate safely ships of this size in our channel access and basin is the result of several manoeuvrability studies and numerical modelling, which has the full agreement of pilotage of Itajaí,” said the superintendent of the Port of Itajaí, Antonio dos Santos Junior Ayres.
He added that the achievement can be credited to the joint work of the port and maritime authorities, pilotage, the port terminals APM Terminals Itajaí and Portonave.
The first visit within the new parameters is scheduled for today (Thursday 4 October), with the berthing of the containership ‘MSC Luiza’ at the terminal Portonave in Navegantes. The approval also opens new prospects for the berth on the right bank – APMT and the Public Port – to handle the new generation of ships operating in Brazilian waters.
