The TEC2 facility will be developed in three stages; Phase I with an annual throughput capacity of 1.2m teu is expected to begin operations by Q1, 2015. At full build-out TEC2, representing an investment of approximately US$900m will 1,485 m of berth, 16 STS cranes capable of handling 15,000+ teu capacity vessels and above, and an annual throughput capacity of 4.1m teu.
According to the company the new terminal’s design reflects the APM Terminals’ focus on safety and sustainability, operating under the most stringent occupational safety standards. The container handling equipment which will be used in TEC2 will be eco-friendly, featuring the latest technology to maximise efficiency by conserving energy, and reduce harmful emissions.
