Located about 120 nautical miles north of Nhava Sheva and Mumbai, the terminal is the fourth container terminal in the Gujarat state in north western India, joining Kandla, Mundra and Pipavav.
Part of the greater development of Hazira Port by the Adani Group, which also runs the port of Mundra, in its first phase the facility will have two berths with a total length of 650 metres, served by four post-Panamax ship-to-shore cranes with an outreach of 18 containers. Yard operations will be by 12 electric rubber tyred gantry (ERTG) cranes. It will have an initial capacity of around 1m teu.
Although several test calls have been made at the terminal to date, it has not received any regular vessel calls.
