The service will primarily serve the needs of General Motors Korea, which signed a contract in February 2011 with the Russian motor manufacturer GAZ to assemble its Chevrolet Aveo subcompact city car. However GCS-Ruscon is also offering capacity to third parties, including carriers and shippers who route cargo via Ust-Luga.
Two pilot trains were run from in December, transporting a total of 118 20ft and 40ft on the company’s own flat-car wagons; it is expected that volumes will build to around 800 x 40ft containers per month.
