Liebherr achieves highest MHC turnover

Delivering 94 units worldwide, the year also saw the company reach the milestone of supplying its 1000th mobile harbour crane, a type LPS 550, which was delivered to Montoir Bulk Terminal (MBT) located at the French Atlantic coast.

Liebherr identified that a notable trend towards bigger and stronger machines was still evident last year. Comparing deliveries in 2011, when every fourth delivery was for ‘lightweight’ units, in 2012 this share dropped to 19%.

Distribution saw Europe (including Russia) remaining the biggest market by far, accounting for more than 40% with 38 units delivered, 12 more than in 2011. The African market also showed a positive development accounting for over 21% (20 units), an increase of eight machines, including the delivery of an LHM 550 model to APM Terminals Apapa, Liebherr’s 100th MHC for the African continent.
