The order is part of ECT\’s investment programme, which aims to further modernise its Delta Terminal at Maasvlakte in Rotterdam. The cranes will be delivered during 2014 replacing some of the existing automatic stacking cranes that have been in operation since the early 1990s.
\”This order builds on the long-term partnership between the companies. The crane design has evolved a lot over the years and the latest models will be fitted with the most advanced technological solutions, electrical system and design features that will make them more reliable, productive and environmentally friendly,\” said Rene Kleiss, vice president at Kalmar.
ECT Delta Terminal was the first fully automated terminal in the world and during the past 25 years Kalmar and Nelcon, a company it acquired in 2001, have delivered over 100 automatic stacking cranes to the facility.
