To continue its development, the DCT facility has signed a lease agreement with the Port Authority of Gdansk confirming the previously announced plan to create DCT2, a second container terminal. Scheduled to be completed at the beginning of 2016, once fully operational, the combined total annual capacity of DCT and DCT2 will be up to 4m teu.
“I am pleased that DCT begins 2013 with such a success. It reassures me that the decision concerning DCT’s investments in further development was correct. I am confident that our successful track record and reputation for delivering results for our clients will continue,” said Boris Wenzel, CEO of DCT Gdansk, who is to step down in April to take over a senior management position in Noatum Ports in Spain.
He is to be replaced by Maciek Kwiatkowski, who has 30 years of experience in the port industry with a strong focus on operations, design and construction of container terminals. He has previously successfully run projects in Australia, Asia and South America.
