Felixstowe to double rail capacity

The port is already operating 58 daily arrivals and departures and handling in excess of 800,000 teu/year.

“When the new rail terminal is opened, together with our existing two rail terminals, we will have a total 20 rail tracks, more than London King’s Cross Station [which] will double our rail handling capability,” said Clemence Cheng, Felixstowe’s CEO said

Cheng added that the cranes are not only the largest in the UK but together with the only intermodal locomotive traverser in the country, they will be serving the country’s largest container rail terminal.
