Since its inception in 1981, the number of containers received at the port has increased exponentially; its current capacity for 200,000 teu per year for transport via rail is likely to increase as the facility expands.
With this rapid growth, advanced technologies were necessary to streamline the port’s operations. The TOS will give the port the ability to effectively manage terminal processes, increase productivity and eliminate excessive rail and yard management expenses, allowing it to enhance operations overall.
In addition to SPARCS N4, BIG has also installed SAP enterprise application software as a part of a major technology transition project, the first of its kind in Saudi Arabia.
