PoMC manages over 500 ha of port land and more than 100,000 ha of declared port waters, including 45 nautical miles of commercial channels. Its ‘Sustainability Framework’ has identified four priority strategies to measure its future performance and manage its operations in an economically, socially and environmentally sustainable way.
SLR’s scope involves providing specialist advice on a range of matters including sustainable procurement approaches, developing sustainable performance metrics and reporting frameworks, assessment and auditing processes and peer review of a strategic air emission programme.
Antony Sprigg, SLR’s technical director for sustainability, said: “Increasingly, large organisations are setting clear targets for sustainability realising the value it can bring, both in terms of regulatory compliance and corporate social responsibility but also to the bottom line”.
