Following implementation, POAL will use the TOS to enable gate and quay crane process automation with OCR and PDS technologies to drive significant improvements in equipment management. It will also incorporate Navis’ advanced optimisation modules into key operations to enhance levels of productivity, efficiency and cost-savings.
“We have chosen Navis SPARCS N4 because it will help us improve productivity and reduce costs. We will be able to optimise vessel and yard planning immediately and see SPARCS N4 as an enabler and platform for the introduction of future technologies that will provide further enhancements to our productivity,” said Raoul Borley, general manager operations, Ports of Auckland. He added that the system would be “an essential building block for future growth”.
POAL is one of the most influential seaport companies in New Zealand, handling more than 800,000 teu per year, representing more than 31% of the country’s total container trade.
