PSA expands presence in Port of Fuzhou

PSA becomes shareholder in FJCT

FJCT is the third joint-venture between the two companies, joining PSA’s current investments in Fuzhou International Container Terminal (FICT) and Fuzhou Qingzhou Container Terminal (FQCT).  With this latest venture, the two parties now operate a total of eight berths at the three terminals in the Port of Fuzhou.

FJCT is equipped with a 17.5 m deep-water 667 m long quay, supporting three Super-post Panamax quay cranes with 23-row outreach capable of handling mega-container vessels.  PSA sees Fuzhou being transformed into the regional port of call in the Fujian Straits.

Emphasising the importance of the Fujian Straits to China’s western hinterland, Mr Ong Kim Pong, PSA’s regional CEO for Northeast Asia, said: “PSA and Fuzhou Port Group recognise the tremendous potential of the Fuzhou Port as a major container hub port to support the further development of industries and hinterland investments in south-eastern and western China.”
