With a total lift capacity of 45 tonnes, the new series adds four extra models to the company’s container handling range and three extra models for intermodal handling, stacking boxes six and five high respectively. According to the company, the design focus has been on improved performance with high fuel efficiency, reduced total cost of ownership (TCO) and comfort.
Ready to meet European Stage 4, Tier 4 Final and EPA emission legislations, three new Eco modes are now included to provide up to a 20% saving on fuel, while the inclusion of a new engine ‘Start/Stop’ function can save a further 10%. Load sensing hydraulics, fitted with variable pumps and a temperature-controlled cooling fan, achieve additional economies; a tyre air pressure control system also contributes to fuel savings while extending tyre lifetime by up to 10%.
To help drive down the TCO, Kalmar has also introduced changes to the service intervals. A two-year or 4000-hour warranty now comes as standard, with the first service period extended from 50 to 500 hours and the hydraulic oil change interval, extended from 2000 to 4000 hours. This can be increased with the addition of an Oil Sample Programme. Engine oil servicing has also been extended from 500 to 1000 hours and the servo filter from 500 to 1000 hours.
