The machines have been purchased as part of the operator’s investment plan to raise efficiency and increase productivity, thereby strengthening the terminal’s position in the face of fierce competition in the region. These latest machines increase the number of tractors in its fleet to 71.
Although concentrating on containers, in May the company also took delivery of a ‘floating stevedoring unit’ for the discharge of grain. Constructed by the Arab Contractors Company in Ismailia, the platform has two grain suction units, equipped with environmental dust filter systems, and can discharge up to 500 tonnes per hour.
The floating unit is equipped with conveyor system to transport grain from ships to warehouses or directly to transport.
