The new service connects La Spezia and the Port of Montreal, both of which offer onward movement of containers via dedicated rail services, providing a new service gateway for the Italian port, not only to Canada but also to the US Midwest as a large share of the traffic will be managed by rail.
”Whilst LSCT has for a number of years benefitted from long established direct connections to Asia, the three coasts of the USA, Indian Sub-continent as well as intra-Mediterranean countries, we are extremely appreciative in having the opportunity to introduce this new and direct link to Canada,” said general manager, Michele Giromini.
The new service joins the existing connections using, what the company calls “the La Spezia system” integrated supply chain management via Contship Italia Group companies.
