Break-bulk tonnage rose 14% to 4,414,231 tonnes, up from 3,871,182 tonnes, and car volumes rose 16% year-on-year to 170, 835 units, up from 147,221.
The results reflect increases in both labour productivity and volumes across all operations, port officials said.
“This year has been positive,” said chief executive Tony Gibson. “While container volumes were not up significantly, our focus on lifting revenue, improving processes and raising labour productivity has started to show results. Earnings are up, we have won back some of the business lost as a result of last year’s industrial action and secured two new services.”
