In addition, a further three RTG units, with a span of seven lanes plus one, have also been ordered by the Group for its terminal in the Port of Surabaya. All the equipment will be supplied from the TPS manufacturing facility in Xiamen, China by the end of 2014, strengthening the company’s expansion in South East Asia.
The STS cranes are to be of monobox construction, fitted with self-propelled trollies; they will have a lifting capacity of 45-tonnes under the spreader and a waterside outreach of 42 m.
Although no figure was disclosed by either party, the deal is believed to be worth US$33m, making it the second-largest order secured by the Xiamen facility following the US$40m order of 26 RTGs by Malaysia’s Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas in March last year.
