Manufactured by Terex Port Solutions in German and assembled at the port, the new twin-lift machines bring the terminal’s Terex Noell straddle carrier fleet to 41 units, while increasing the number of twin-lift units at the facility from 14 to 27. With improved environmental features, the machines will reduce fuel consumption from 27 litres per hour to 22 litres per hour.
DCT terminal manager, Hector Danisa, said that the new equipment was gradually handed over in batches of four during the past month. “We are delighted by the early handover. It could not have come at a better time as we are currently in the reefer season and are experiencing an increase in frequency of weather delays as a result of strong winds,” he said.
