Year-end rush of orders for Kalmar
For DP World’s new Container Terminal 3, currently under construction at Jebel Ali in Dubai, the company is to supply seven empty container handlers that will be delivered by April 2014 ahead of the facilities opening. Adding 4m teu, the new facility will take the total annual capacity of Jebel Ali Port to 19m teu.
The new machines will be equipped with several options to enhance operator safety, such as twistlock monitoring cameras, a rear warning system and vehicle data output, among others.
The manufacturer is also to supply three 10-tonne empty container handlers, along with nine, seven-tonne forklift trucks to the state-owned Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Services Enterprise (ESLSE) based in Addis Ababa, for use in the coastal Port of Djibouti. The units are scheduled for delivery during Q1-2014.
