Immediately after the official inauguration of the R$2bn (US$849m) Brasil Terminal Portuário (BTP) container facilities in the Port of Santos were officially inaugurated at the end of November, the Secretariat of Ports (SEP) announced that it was starting the bidding process for maintenance dredging to 15 m of the port’s central navigation channel, along with the access to the berths and mooring points. Ngqura container terminal privatisation put on hold

Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) has announced that has become necessary to suspend the Request for Qualification (RFQ) process for a private operator take over the financing, operation and maintenance of the Ngqura Container Terminal. The suspension was done under the terms of clause 10 of the RFQ.
