When it is operational in the first half of 2018 it will be Abidjan’s second container terminal and boast a 1,000 m-long quay with alongside depth of 18 m.
The port’s existing terminal is operated by Bolloré Africa Logistics and had a throughput of 600,000 teu during 2012.
According to a statement the consortium will invest US$600m in the terminal during its 21-year concession with $400m spent in the next few years. The Côte d’Ivoire government will cover the expected US$500-800m cost of providing the basic infrastructure.
