The option will bring the total value of GLDD’s Miami contract to US$174.1m leaving a further US$31.6m yet to be awarded under the current plan of the Corps.
GLDD began a two-year project to deepen Miami Harbour in November 2013. The cutter suction dredge Texas, the largest in the Great Lakes’ fleet, will execute the majority of the dredging operation.
PortMiami, the 15th busiest container port in the US and currently ranking 115th in CM’s World Top Container Ports is the main gateway for cargo entering the country from Central and South America and home to a unique ecosystem.
