In August 2012, ICTSI was granted a 21 year sub-concession to develop and operate a container terminal at Lekki port by the Tolaram Group which has the master concession to develop, operate and manage Lekki for a 45 year period in partnership with the Nigerian Port Authority and the Lagos State Government.
The Lekki International Container Terminal Services LFTZ Enterprise (LICTSLE), located 60km east of Lagos is currently under construction and is expected to open for business in 2017.
The terminal, comprising a straight-line quay of 1,200 m, a yard area of 66 ha and STS cranes, will provide the market with a capacity of 2.5m teu which will ease capacity pressure. It is designed to allow for further capacity growth exceeding the initial 2.5m teu.
