In Latin America, Liebherr’s largest mobile harbour crane model, the LHM 600, was particularly successful with a total of twelve units sold in the last twelve months, confirming the trend towards larger cranes in the region.
Three are barge slewing (LBS) cranes, a combination of a mobile harbour crane and a fixed pedestal mounted on a barge, and two specially designed LHM 600s were acquired in Argentina and Uruguay. An elongated tower extension positions the tower cabin higher than 37 m providing not only better sight into the ship for the crane driver but also a higher fulcrum point which considerably aids the handling of larger vessels.
In spring 2013 Liebherr launched its range of maritime crane simulators (LiSIM) that the company says “provide a cost-effective and highly efficient crane driver training solution for mobile harbour cranes, ship to shore, rubber tyre gantry and offshore cranes.”
