The Duisport Group is expanding its terminal capacities in the container terminals in Logport I and Logport III on the left bank of the Rhine.
The fleet of six gantry cranes will be supplemented by four additional units, plus an expansion of rail infrastructure and a 13 ha extension of the handling area should see capacity rise to 5m teu by 2015.
The first element of expansion on logport I will be completed at the end of February 2014 when the new trimodal portal crane with a span of around 140 m will start operations on the D3T terminal. This is the second crane of this size on D3T and is one of the largest portal cranes in an inland port. A third rail crane for the neighbouring, trimodal, container terminal DIT will follow in the autumn.
