The Eurogate group handled 14.2m teu across Europe during 2013, representing growth of 7.3%, the first time in five years it has broken the 14m teu barrier.
That growth was driven by its Italian Mediterranean terminals with over 11% growth, especially the transhipment terminals at Gioia Tauro and Cagliari, where traffic rose by 13% and 12% respectively.
Atlantic terminals in Tangier, which for the first time handled over 1m teu, and Lisbon also saw their throughput rise – 16% at Lisbon and 84% at Tangier.
