The opening of the automated container terminal at Patrick’s Port Botany is likely to be delayed because of damage sustained to equipment during transportation.
Some 30 Kalmar AutoStrads being shipped to the port were damaged during a “significant storm” on the way to Australia, according to Asciano, Patrick’s owner.
The full extent of the damage is currently unknown and will be assessed over the next few weeks following unloading in Brisbane; the estimated mid-2014 launch date is likely to be affected.
