The Barranquilla Container Terminal (BCT), Colombia’s newest container handling facility, has successfully implemented and gone live with Tideworks’ terminal operating system (TOS) solutions.
BCT is a joint venture between Barranquilla International Terminal Company (BITCO), a subsidiary of Sociedad Portuaria de Santa Marta (SPSM), and Seattle-based terminal operator SSA Marine. Investing roughly US$42m, the terminal is equipped with three Panamax-size ship-to-shore cranes, two rubber-tyred gantries and various other container handling equipment.
Its initial throughput capacity is 122,000 teu annually, although a proposed second phase expansion will increase capacity to 190,000 teu per year.
