Port Said’s Suez Canal Container Terminal (SCCT) registered a 2013 throughput of 3.12m teu, up 9% on the previous year’s 2.86m teu.
Klaus Holm Laursen, SCCT’s managing director said that the 2013 results are the second best in terms of growth, coming second to the 3.2m achieved in 2011.
The terminal received 2,355 vessels in 2013, a 15% increase on the 2,045 received in 2012, due to new service calls. In addition, SCCT handled a number of 15,500 teu vessels as it is the only terminal in Egypt capable of handling such vessels with a crane gross productivity of up to 30 moves/hour.
