Abu Dhabi Ports Company’s (ADPC) Khalifa and Zayed Ports saw increased volumes of container and ro-ro traffic last year.
Ro-ro traffic at Zayed Port in the centre of Abu Dhabi grew by 11.7% reflecting increased consumer demand and a growing population.
Volumes at Khalifa Port’s container terminal which is operated by Abu Dhabi Terminals increased by 14.6% to 901,722 teu in 2013 compared with 787,048 teu the previous year. Since its opening, the port has become Abu Dhabi’s gateway to international markets and its current volumes suggest that the port will qualify for inclusion in this year’s CM World Top Container Ports for the first time.
