NVOCC and US-based ocean freight consolidator CaroTrans has announced a new weekly direct, all-water, less-than-container-load (LCL) service from the US West Coast to all points in Central America, including Belize, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Panama.
The new service was launched from Los Angeles earlier this month (March), with the company claiming that it offers enhanced transits, reduced handling and lower costs compared with routing via the traditional Miami gateway.
Central America is a robust region for US exports and one that CaroTrans has been servicing for over 30 years. The US Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration calculates that there are 40m potential consumers in the region and currently 50% of imports originate from the US.
