The Global Shippers’ Forum (GSF) has called on international regulators to fully investigate the impact on price and service of the P3, and to make appropriate changes to ease competition concerns.
At its third annual meeting in los Angeles, USA, the GSF urged both the U.S. Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) and the European Commission competition authorities to adopt approporiate measures to ensure that the P3 Global Alliance of Maersk, MSC and CMA CGM is unable to restrict competition, reduce choice or influence rates resulting from its potentially dominant position.
FMC commissioner William Doyle addressed the meeting, saying he recognised shippers’ concerns and that questions raised had been helpful in terms of evaluating the P3.
