At the beginning of 2014 new regulations from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) took effect. The CARB requirements were introduced as a measure to reduce exhaust emissions from diesel engines in off-road applications. As a result, all reefer containers in California should be tested and registered with CARB before transport to California.
According to Thermo King, customers can have peace of mind when using its SG-4000 generator set (genset) units. As the company’s latest and most advanced genset platform to-date, it exceeds the US CARB requirements as well as the most stringent requirements of the EPA Tier IV final regulations.
“The SG-4000 genset series is evergreen CARB compliant, requiring no additional emission system. (It) isn’t a patchwork solution requiring annual conditional CARB approval. From day one, the SG-4000 meets CARB requirements, without compromise,” said Gulsah Metinoz, product manager for Thermo King Global Marine.
